Lotsa News! The mylunch.ie update

Exciting times for mylunch.ie! Ireland’s best lunch site has lots of new initiatives in the pipeline and a host of great ideas coming to fruition. Couple that with great new retailers on site and we are really growing!
In other news, we are also recruiting a number of business development execs., so if you, or someone you know, think you have what it takes to join the lunch team, see here.
We are currently looking at improving our site also, so if you have any ideas for this, please get in contact through hungry [at] mylunch.ie. We would love to hear from you, and any praise (or critisicm!) will be taken on board!
Moving on to the additions to our site in the past while, and we’ve had quite a few!
The Wooden Spoon in Blackrock has been welcomed on board with open arms! This brand new take away deli provides great tasting fresh delicious lunch offers, including Homemade Soup and Sandwich for only €6. Located near the Blackrock DART station at 3 Bath Place, there is also a take away hot food counter serving Asian noodle dishes, pasta bakes and chicken stir-frys, plus a smoothie bar! Not much more a lunchgoer could ask for eh!
Nude  on Suffolk St. is also live on site.  The distinctive green logo is a firm favourite of the Trinners crew, as well as office workers in the area, and we at mylunch.ie can see why! Serving fresh organic lunch, as well as an extensive breakfast and dinner menu, Nude  offers a healthy alternative that is easy on your wallet. Centrally located, why not drop in and sample one of Dublin’s gems?
Finally, it is with great please that we welcome Gotham Cafe  on Sth. Anne Street in D2 and also Gotham South in Stillorgan. Both have the same premise of a casual eatery serving good food in a laid back environment, starting with a light breakfast menu in mid-morning and carrying right through until late night with an extensive and varied menu, much of which is freshly made every day, on the premises.  Also If you fancy pizza for lunch in Dublin, Gotham is the place to be!
Along with new retailers coming on stream every week (we’ve lots more to be announced soon!). We’ve got plenty of 2 for 1 lunch vouchers, lunch deals, and exclusive lunch offers for all your lunchtime needs, as well as a weekly competition (three course meal for two in Royal Marine Hotel Dun Laoghaire this week)! Stick with us you’ll do well!
Oh and by the way, you can keep in contact with us by either signing up to our newsletter, checking us out on Facebook, or following us on Twitter.
Have a great bank hol weekend from mylunch.ie!

Street Feast: The Event!

And so the planning was over! The mylunch supported Street Feast  was held last Sunday, with hundreds of local communities taking part in feasts the length and breath of the country! Mixed weather conditions did not dampen the enthusiasm, and a lovely day was had by all. Friends were made, fun was had, and importantly, the barriers which can sometimes be built up within communities were broken down, all through the premise of lunch! A vast array of cakes, quiches, salads,  BBQ meat, stew, rice, frittatas and desserts were on offer across the country as hundreds tucked into Sunday lunch with their neighbours.
Special lunch feasts were held in Dublin’s Merrion and Darthmouth Squares, throughout Dublin city and county, and as far afield as Donegal, Mayo and Dingle.  The not for profit event attracted a lot of attention, and Minister for the Environment John Gormley, who visited a number of the street festivals including Dartmouth Square, described the idea as “fantastic”.
As we have said in earlier blog posts, we here at mylunch.ie  see communal eating, sharing banter and the social side of lunch as really important for building relationships, and this can be the case both in the community and in working life!  And why not get a bit of value with a voucher or special deal while doing so!
As Street Feast organiser Sam Bishop stated, the event gave people a good excuse to go and knock on their neighbour’s door and get to know them, and we here at mylunch hope to see it become a regular event in Ireland’s social calendar.  It’s also great to see Ireland getting back to what it does best, good wholesome food and craic with friends!
